13 Breweries in Upstate New York to Visit in 2026

As you probably already know, I’m a beer girl. Now don’t just hand me a Coors Light and call it a day—to specify I am a fan of craft beer.

More than that, one of my favorite ways to spend a weekend afternoon is to visit a brewery.

There’s something about coming together with friends, relaxing and maybe even playing a game or two that feels like a true chance to step away from screens and connect with others.

I recently shared my favorite Brooklyn breweries and now I’m back with the upstate edition.

Ever since we got a car in 2021, it’s been a great opportunity to plan more day trips and weekend getaways upstate.

12 Breweries in Upstate New York to Visit in 2025

From the Adirondacks to the Hudson Valley, here are 12 upstate breweries you should definitely check out while exploring all that upstate New York has to offer.

2 Way Brewing

Beacon, NY

2 Way Brewing is a craft brewery and taproom in Beacon, NY.

Here they brew small-batch beers inspired by the local area that taste just as good on a hiking trail as they do on a patio. 2 way Brewing offers games and even live music at their taproom.

We visited here on a chilly but sunny January day but still had a blast and even ran into some other friends who were visiting from NYC!

It’s also so close to the Dia:Beacon so you can check out some incredible minimalist art in the morning and chill at the brewery in the afternoon.

Adirondack Pub & Brewery

Lake George, NY

This award-winning brewery is located in the town of Lake George, one of the most beautiful parts of upstate New York.

Adirondack Brewery produces over 25 ales on-site and they also offer a full pub menu.

I highly recommend getting a seat on the deck if you can and you can even grab a 6-pack to go if you like what you taste.

Bolton Landing Brewing Company

Bolton Landing, NY

Founded in 2017, this family-owned microbrewery on the shores of Lake George in Bolton Landing, NY, serves locally brewed beers year-round.

All of the beer at Bolton Landing Brewing Company is brewed on-site in a 7-barrel brewhouse, which can be seen from the taproom.

They have both indoor and outdoor seating and even on busy summer nights we’ve always managed to find a spot to post up and enjoy a refreshingly cold beer.

Callicoon Brewing Company

Callicoon, NY

As the name suggests, this historic brewpub is located in Callicoon, NY, overlooking the Delaware River.

Callicoon Brewing Company definitely offers more than the typical brewery and have a full bar and pub fare in addition to their own craft beers and beers from other local vendors.

If it’s a nice night, you can sit on the porch and look down at Callicoon’s main strip while drinking your beer. (I went when it was snowing, but I’ll live vicariously through you!)

Hudson Valley Brewery

Beacon, NY

If you’re a fan of sour IPA’s, this next one’s for you. Hudson Valley Brewery in Beacon, NY is known for its bold brews and is located in a hip and industrial space next to a creek.

This lively tasting room will likely be packed in the evenings (they are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesday though) or on a beautiful weekend upstate, but there’s lots of seating both inside the taproom and outside.

As a side note, I love their can label designs! They’re so unique and colorful.

Newburgh Brewing Company

Newburgh, NY

Set inside a 160‑year‑old riverside brick warehouse right next to the river, this brewery and restaurant offers a wide range of beers in this spacious taproom.

From traditional brews to experimental ales, there’s no shortage of variety when it comes to beer offered here.

Founded in 2012, Newburgh Brewing Company offers lots of seating at communal tables, games, and sweeping views of the Hudson River Valley.

Return Brewing

Hudson, NY

Wonder what inspired the name of this next brewery? The founders wanted to create beers that you can return to again and again.

They brew their beers in Catskill where they also have an outpost location in addition to their flagship taproom in Hudson—which to me is the quintessential modern brewery space.

Return Brewing create traditional tavern‑style beers, experimental “garden” brews using local ingredients, and barrel‑aged “archive” releases as well.

This is another spot with absolutely stunning can labels that will make you look twice before drinking.

Round Table Brewery

Garnerville, NY

Round Table Brewery produces balanced, high‑quality beers at a beautiful tavern in Garnerville, NY.

Sit at the bar, on a cozy couch or at a traditional beer hall table to enjoy your brews with your whole crew.

They also serve Argentine-inspired dishes, vegetarian options and classic tavern bites at this location so you’ll leave with a full belly whether you indulge in food, beer, or both!

It’s the perfect spot to grab a beer as a reward after a hike (says me who went hiking at Bear Mountain before coming here) and they also have a Brooklyn location.

By the way, if you’re into hiking AND beer I must implore you to pick up this book.

Union Street Brewing

Hudson, NY

Union Street Brewing Co. is possibly one of my favorite breweries that I’ve ever visited.

Located in a bright and airy space at the edge of the main strip of Hudson, NY, this is the perfect place to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon.

This brewery offers easy‑drinking beers in a family‑friendly (and dog-friendly) space, complete with a massive outdoor patio that you will never want to leave.

The staff here were also super friendly and helped me decide what to order.

Upper Depot Brewing Co

Hudson, NY

Located in a beautifully renovated 1800s train station on Hudson’s east side, Upper Depot Brewing Co offers a modern, industrial taproom serving several rotating house‑brewed craft beers.

They have a happy hour on weekdays between 2-6pm and are often visited by food trucks in case you get hungry.

You can also book a private tour of the brewery with the head brewery if you check out their website.

Upward Brewing Company

Livingston Manor, NY

A microbrewery and taproom set in the Catskills, Upward Brewing Company crafts award‑winning, farm‑brewed beers using its own spring water.

Upward is set on a 120‑acre property with an on‑site kitchen and scenic mountain trails surrounding it.

Not that you asked—but the fireplace is my favorite part of this space. It is so grand and beautiful and the perfect place to gather on a chilly winter evening.

They also serve food here. I’ve only been here once in 2021, but I think about this place often and am due for another visit.

West Kill Brewing

West Kill, NY

I believe this is my most frequented brewery upstate: West Kill Brewing!

Nestled in the Catskill Mountains, West Kill Brewing is a small‑batch brewery on a former dairy farm known for crisp lagers and beers made with local water and its mountain‑side taproom.

We come here every year when we do our annual girls trip in March and I always look forward to the outing.

Last time we were there, they had wood-fired pizzas and in the past they’ve had other food trucks on weekends.

Hunter Mountain Brewery

Hunter, NY

On a recent weekend getaway to Hunter, NY, I checked out Hunter Mountain Brewery with my friend Devon!

We were staying at Scribner’s Lodge just a few minutes down the road.

I tried a beer called Crazy Hazy (an ode to the first episode of season 3 of Gilmore Girls I assumed!) which was a delicious hazy IPA.

Devon ordered a cider and we shared soft pretzels with cheese dip. Not my favorite dip or pretzels personally (the dip was runny and the pretzels were airy instead of doughy) but they were alright.

I would try other food options on the menu if I return here.
