Editorial Policy

This page explains how content on DBS Guy is made: who writes it, how it is checked, and what we do when something needs fixing. If you ever want to know where a guide on this site came from, this is the answer.

Who writes for DBS Guy

Articles on DBS Guy are written and edited by David James. Every guide published here passes through one editor before it goes live, which keeps the voice and the standard consistent across the site.

How an article is made

  • We start with a real question. Topics come from what readers are actually looking for — a look they want to copy, a project they want to try, a season they are planning for.
  • We research before we write. That means looking at how something is actually done, what it costs, and what commonly goes wrong, rather than repeating what other pages say.
  • A person writes and edits it. We may use tools to help with research or a first draft, but nothing is published without being read, checked, and edited by a person. Nothing goes live unread.
  • We publish it with the detail intact. The steps, the specifics, and the things that are easy to get wrong stay in — those are usually the reason someone came to the page.

Keeping articles current

Trends move, products are discontinued, and prices change. We go back to older guides and update them rather than leaving them to go stale. Where a guide has been revised, the updated date reflects it.

Images

The images published on DBS Guy are either created by us, licensed for commercial use, or used with the permission of the rights holder. Where a third party is credited, that credit appears alongside the material.

If a rights holder believes their work has been used here without permission, our full process is on the Copyright & DMCA page.

Health and wellness content

Articles on this site that touch on health, diet, fitness, or wellness are general information only. They are not medical advice, they are not written by medical professionals, and they are not a substitute for speaking to a qualified doctor. We say this on the articles themselves, not just here.

Advertising, affiliates, and sponsorship

  • DBS Guy is funded by display advertising.
  • Advertisers have no say in what we publish or how we write about anything.
  • Where a post contains an affiliate link or sponsored content, it is clearly labelled on that post.
  • We do not accept payment in exchange for a positive review or coverage.
