Victoria Beckham’s Latest Perfume Bottles Her Earliest Memories With David

She tells us all about Hotel Portofino Extrait de Parfum.
Key Takeaways
- Victoria Beckham Beauty’s fifth fragrance, Hotel Portofino Extrait de Parfum, launched on September 9.
- Beckham tells Byrdie what inspired the scent and how it fits into her summer beauty routine.
Once upon a summer in 1997, Victoria and David took a trip to Portofino. That holiday mattered in two ways, at least in part: it was the start of a long, happy and healthy relationship, and it eventually gave the world two great perfumes for the vanity.
On Wednesday, September 9, 2026, Victoria Beckham Beauty’s fifth fragrance — and its first Extrait de Parfum — Hotel Portofino, is arriving. It takes its cue from the brand’s much-loved Portofino ’97 scent, honouring the same storied holiday while going deeper into the love story that grew out of it.
Beckham says the new scent takes her straight back to that trip: the light, the hotel, the sea breeze, and the thrill of being somewhere entirely private together. She remembers that period of her life as if it were yesterday.

Here is everything to know about Hotel Portofino Extrait de Parfum.
The Inspiration
Vilensky lets Beckham herself explain what inspired the fragrance — who better? Hotel Portofino takes Beckham back to 1997, she explains, when she and David were newly together and slipped away to Portofino. Because they were keeping the relationship private, the trip felt wonderfully romantic and exciting. She wanted the new fragrance to hold on to that same feeling of falling in love, but in a deeper, more sensual and longer-lasting form — so that whoever wears it feels confident and completely absorbed in the moment.

The Fragrance
Hotel Portofino was created by Victoria Beckham together with master perfumer Jérôme Epinette. At the top of the scent sit bergamot, basil and saffron. The middle brings wild fig, agarwood and a pinot noir accord, while incense, papyrus and black amber form the base.
Its bottle takes a vintage-inspired shape that echoes Portofino ’97, but this time it is fluted and finished in gold.
How to Wear It
Beckham says she usually applies fragrance to pulse points such as her wrists and neck, and she also likes to mist a little through her hair.

For her, fragrance should feel intimate — something noticed when someone is close by.
Vilensky suggests pairing it with a beauty look suited to the Italian Riviera. For Beckham, summer is about fresh, glowing skin kept fairly effortless: a touch of concealer, the Cell Rejuvenating Illuminator, Colour Wash Bronze in Tanline, and a slick of tinted Posh Balm. The fragrance, she adds, is always the finishing touch.
