McMahon, 28, says denim has long given her trouble. As a tall, curvy person, she found jeans tended to run too short, too tight, or unflatteringly baggy, even though she liked the classic, polished look of blue jeans. The appeal works two ways, McMahon explains. Soft cotton terry fabric and an elastic waistband give the pants a sweatpant feel, while a digitally printed denim design makes them look like real jeans, down to flat, two-dimensional-looking button, zipper, belt loops and back pockets. She has worn them weekly for over a month, almost entirely instead of normal denim, including on a 10-day trip to Italy, where they coped with a cramped airplane cabin and an all-day walking tour of the Colosseum and Palatine Hill in Rome.
