She Waited 25 Minutes for the Airport Shuttle—So When Two People Cut the Line, She Called Them Out

When an airport is busy, it can take a while to catch a shuttle to get to your next location.
What would you do if you had been waiting 25 minutes for a shuttle, and just before it arrived, two people tried to cut to the head of the line?
That is what happened to the woman and her two kids in this story, so she loudly called them out and sent them to the back of the line.
It is hard to tell whether the situation was handled well or came across as rude, but either way, the people cutting in line were put where they belong. Read through the full story below and see what you think.
Just flew solo with my two young kids for the first time.
Traveling all day is stressful.
Spent three hours driving to the airport then three hours flying, and finally get to where the shuttle is and after 10 minutes it arrives and it’s clear we have too much baggage to fit so I let everyone behind me get on.
My kids have been doing great all day but the cracks are starting to appear and I just want to get them in the car so I can put a movie on the tablet and drive the 1.5 hours home.
Let’s see what these two people do.
Cue the elderly Karen and her daughter. I’ve now been standing waiting for almost 25 minutes, and I have a wagon with our backpacks and what not, and two rolling suitcases.
I’m standing next to the sign that has the company logo and there is a queue of people behind me. EK and D walk up and stand on the curb in front and a little to the side of me blocking the whole sidewalk.
People who cut in line are very rude.
They’ve been there maybe two minutes when the bus pulls up and stops by the sign, but he moves forward cause they are standing at the curb.
Before he can open the door I grab my two suitcases and lift all 100 pounds and step forward and in front of them and say excuse me as assertively as I can, thinking they will get the hint and step back.
These two aren’t giving up.
The shuttle is half full and there’s no way I’m gonna wait again cause of EK & D. The driver sheepishly opens the door, not knowing who was there first, and I step onto the bus to hand him my bags so he can put them on the shelf.
I turn around and EK & D have now stepped between me and my wagon with my kids standing there holding it. They are trying to push past me to get on the bus with their bags and they are between me and my 4 & 6 year olds.
It could have been an honest mistake. There is no need to escalate by yelling.
I stepped down in front of EK and now I’m mad. And I said much louder this time “Move back! I need to get my wagon!” EK is aghast that I’m talking to her like that and D starts to try and say something back to argue with me.
I move down the stairs and back to the sidewalk as they both start to protest and that’s when I snapped.
If everyone in the area can hear you, you are yelling.
Without yelling, I raise my voice loud enough so everyone on the bus and the whole platform can hear me. “I have been waiting 25 minutes for this shuttle and you have been here for two.”
D starts to talk back like I’m out of line and even louder I say “You two are trying to cut this whole line of people! So who is the one being rude here hmmm? Now get BACK!”
They are in the back of the line where they should have been.
I don’t know if it’s what I said or the fact I delivered that last part like an angry drill sergeant, but they both literally scurried away behind the rest of the waiting passengers as fast as they could.
I got my kids on board and all my bags, and the other two couples that had been there before EK & D made it on as well.
It is good that people were nice to the kids.
EK& D were nowhere to be seen at this point and all of the bus passengers were so nice to my daughters the whole shuttle ride to our car, asking them about their trip and talking to them.
I slipped the driver a nice tip and he was all smiles as he helped me get all my bags off.
This is a difficult situation to evaluate. People are often nice to the kids when their parents are acting poorly because they feel bad for them. The people trying to cut in line (whether intentionally or not) were in the wrong, but it does sound like this lady overreacted.

Her kids knew how to act.

Entitled people are so obnoxious.

Be nice to people who deserve it.

This commenter is glad that the lady spoke up.

Stopping entitled people is always good.

People who cut in line are so rude and deserve to be sent to the back. This lady was not putting up with that level of entitlement today.
It is always surprising when someone acts like this, and then they are surprised when they get called out for it. Unfortunately, they are used to getting away with it.
